Jen's Birthday (part deux)

Monday equals quizzo night in West Chester.  Our favorite place to go is Ram's Head on the corner of Market and my old street, Walnut.  It is a favorite of ours.  It has a laid back feel and really good pub food!  This Quizzo Monday was special though, it is in celebration of Jen's birthday (thus why part deux)!

When I walked up to the bar to get our drinks I saw this tap and I HAD to try this beer!

It is a monkey, in a spacesuit, chasing a raspberry...how awesome is that?!  It was actually a really good beer.  It was a saison with a hint of raspberry.  It wasn't an overpowering, sweet fruit beer like so many are.

I made Jen open her presents and card.  It wasn't much, just something to show we care.

Jen rockin' her new bracelet!

I also got her these little buttons.  The "goof ball" is to always remember me, "party animal" because it is her birthday and "the bee's knees" because that is what I think of her!

It was one of those things that I have no idea what she is going to do with them, but they were too cute and too Jen to pass up!

Mike tried to make Jen her own cupcake by drawing it on one of those new bud lite bottles.  You can really see the determination in his face!

and after all his efforts, this is what he came up with...  He told us if he had an actual pencil and piece of paper he could draw the best darn cupcake ever!

We got the opportunity when the quizzo dude handed out the pencils but, I immediately broke it (by accident) trying to write our team name.  waaaa-waaaa

When I did finally get a working pencil, Mike drew Jen her cupcake.  I must say, it is a pretty good lookin' cupcake!

After having some beers and giggles, we ordered some food.  Since it was a celebration, we ordered a FEAST!  Plus, appetizers are half off during quizzo!  We got Poutine fries (my fav), they are fries, covered in gravy and topped with Gruyere cheese!  Holla!

They called these pretzel bites, but they were more like a pretzel roll split in half.  They were okay, but the sauce that they came with was awesome!  It was a spicy cheese sauce!

We also got corn dog bites because Jen said that she had never had them before...WHAT?!  How can you be 29 and never had had a corn dog?!  Good news...she liked them!

Last, but not least...chicken fingers...

We ate and drank while trying to figure out the correct answers to the questions.  It is amazing how serious people take quizzo (us included), everyone is concentrating like they have to solve world  hunger!

This little wheelie thing is the devil!  The quizzo dude will pull a team name and who ever is called has to go and spin the wheel, we hate doing it!  We always get the "challenge another team" and we typically lose...
This particular night we did not have to spin the wheel!  A birthday miracle!

There are a lot of cheaters roaming around trying to find out answers, so you have to be top secret!  Especially when it comes to the picture round.  This picture round had a section that was made for me!  You had to name the fruit!  AWESOME!

We actually did really well!  We were in second place the entire time until the very last round!  We finished in 3rd.  I think that is pretty good considering there was only three of us!  And the saying is right (when it comes to mike) "first is the worst, second is the best, third is the one with the hairy chest"!

I am really glad that we got out for a Quizzo birthday celebration!  I had such a great time!  I think I may have had one too many space monkey's and I didn't get to bed until really late.  In the end, I would do it again in a heart beat!  I am sad, however, to say that there isn't a Jen's Birthday (part 3).  We will just have to wait until next year to celebrate Jen's birthday!

Happy Birthday Buddy Bear!

  1. I told you I could draw a cupcake if I had some paper! An artist needs the right environment, medium and tools all working in harmony to create a masterpiece.
